SpecEM
Full spectral imaging solution for fluorescence microscopy

The ultimate advantage of the MAG Biosystems SpecEM is that it can use both full-spectrum imaging and multispectral (two-channel) collection modes. The system's Mélange™ software can then take the fluorescence profiles obtained and deliver true spectral unmixing of the data, thus providing unprecedented quantitative analysis for critical fluorescence techniques such as FRET and the removal of autofluorescence.

Key system features include:

  • Ability to replace grating cube with two-channel filter cube for simultaneous dual-band imaging
  • Bypass option permits full field-of-view (FOV) imaging
  • Mélange software controls image acquisition and spectral processing, and provides user-expandable database
  • Field-stop slit limits illumination of sample to minimize photobleaching and phototoxicity
  • X-scanning stage provides rapid scanning of sample over full FOV
  • High-speed EMCCD detector delivers quantitative stability across 16 bits
